In the beginning was the word.
The Bible says that God literally spoke the universe into existence.
How is this even possible?
Nikola Tesla said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.
In a scientific study conducted by the American Horticultural Society, researchers spoke to plants to see how speech affected their growth. Critics argued that the breath of the subjects would change the results of the study, but when the research was duplicated with recorded voices, the same results surfaced.
The plants grew faster.
I have always heard that what we say is important, but I never fully understood the true power of words. Sondheim was onto something when compared “tales” with “spells”.
As humans, there are two things we can do with our words; build or destroy.
Ephesians 4:29 says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of our mouth, but only words which are good to build up a person to be the suitable dwelling place of God.”
Just as God built the universe with his words, we have the verbal power to build great things. It is with words that those plants grew abundantly. However, the power of communication should not be taken lightly. As God said, “Is not my word like fire.” Just as our words have the innate power to build, they can also be used to destroy.
Hebrews 4:12 states, “For the word of God is living and active.” The Greek word for active in this context is energeo, directly translated to mean energy. The word of God is living and energy. Luke 19:40 it says the “stones will cry out.”
Studies conducted at the ancient icon Stonehenge discovered that the rocks had absorbed “acoustic energy”. When the researchers tapped the stones with a quartz hammer, various notes of metallic and wooden noises rang out, giving them the nickname “ringing stones”.
The Bible may not be implying that the rocks will breakout into the Hallelujah Chorus. However, they certainly are capable of absorbing the frequencies around them and offering them back to us.
So, if the rocks are absorbing our energies, what do you think they would say back to us now?
Our words not only affect each other, but our world.
Do not take lightly the warning Sondheim gave to his audiences. The tale you tell really is the spell.
